Ah, the thought of angels and demons… There is more literature written and more thought-provoking conversations that have taken place about this particular topic than perhaps any other. The spiritual world fascinates us because, bottom line, most of us simply don’t understand it. How can we reconcile the fact that all day, every day, while we are carrying on about our business, there is another level of activity happening all around us. Yes, we hear people say, ‘You must have had your guardian angel looking out for you”, but do we really accept it? Do we believe it?
Call me crazy, but I do. I have personally experienced Divine interventions so powerful that they simply cannot be explained away. I have felt complete comfort in situations so bizarre that I should have literally been wetting my pants, but I felt nothing but pure peace and ultimate protection. I have witnessed the unexplainable. I have had just the right thing happen at just the right time so often that it cannot merely be explained away as “coincidence” or “luck”. And I believe that God protects all of His children in this manner, but we just fail to recognize it.
And I know for a fact, on at least two identifiable occasions in my life, I have had the opportunity to “entertain angels”. And let me tell you, when you have actually had such an intense spiritual experience, no matter how insignificant it may seem at the time, it changes you.
We are told in Hebrews 13:2, “Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.” We are given opportunities every day to help, inspire, encourage and serve. Yet all too often we allow those opportunities to pass us by because we don’t want to get involved. Let me tell you that the blessing you will receive is far greater than any negative that you might encounter. And maybe, just possibly, in doing so, you will be “entertaining angels”.
