“God has said that He will never give me anymore than I can bear. I just wish He didn’t trust me so much.” ~ Mother Teresa
I don’t know about you, but most of the time I feel that if there is a pile of horse pucky within a three mile radius of me, I am eventually going to step in it. And I am not just going to step in it, I am literally going to get suctioned to the very core of it until it is hardened and makes a complete and fairly accurate mold of my foot. Now, I must say that I don’t go out of my way to find the horse pucky, but I will tell you that it always finds me in the end. Does that make me bitter? No, not bitter, but I am always having to remind myself to put on my rubber boots.
Why are some people drama magnets? Do they bring it on themselves? Sometimes, that answer is obvious. If you are constantly engaging others in conflictual conversation, if you go out of your way to stir up trouble, or if you act as if you are God’s gift to the entire world, then the answer is yes – you bring the drama on yourself. But there are other people that just seem to “step” into it, much like I do. And when I tell you that life is very similar to a soap opera, honey, you have NO idea…. So how do you explain those people and situations?
The answer, while it can be really frustrating for people like me to hear, is that we can handle it. God has given everyone a “pucky” tolerance, and some people’s are just way higher than others. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (from the Message version) tells us, “No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it.” I like that. While it may be frustrating beyond belief, and it may cause endless turmoil in my inner being, I do have to trust God, and know that He is compassionate, He will provide a respite for me, and He will ultimately carry me through the hardest of times and the biggest piles of pucky imaginable.
So, if you are constantly steppin’ in it, my friend, remember to put on your boots and trust God to carry you through.
Catch you on the flip side,
Ang
