Have a Little Faith

Out of defeat can come the best in human nature. As Christians face storms of adversity, they may rise with more beauty. They are like trees that grow on mountain ridges — battered by winds, yet trees in which we find the strongest wood. ~ Billy Graham

I believe it is human nature to focus on the things that are going wrong, because they are the things that demand immediate attention.   Obviously, if your vehicle is not working, that is an issue that must be dealt with in a timely manner.  And when you consider time and economic issues, adding in daily stress and work, and throw a bit of children behaving badly into the whole mix, you might wonder how it is possible to be positive or even simply realistic in those circumstances.

I am closing in on forty years of life – wow! And I must confess that I feel that I question people’s motivations and hidden agendas more than I ever have in my life.  Now, don’t get me wrong, I have always been the ultimate question-and-answer girl; I like to learn new things, explore new ideas, take new challenges and find out how and why things work.  I dig it all, man.  But with people, I had always taken them at face value until the last few years.  Life experience has changed me to the point where I am constantly questioning more than how things work; I am now constantly questioning how people work.  Let me tell you, it is exhausting!

But what it comes down to is this: our human nature begs us to question everything yet learn nothing.  We make the same mistakes over and over again.  We are like Pavlov’s dog: we are trained by circumstance to react the same way to the same sort of stimuli.  We are human.

The only way we can change our course completely is through faith…Faith in someone much bigger than ourselves and our own selfish desires.  Only then can we grow strong and mighty, becoming all that God desires us to be.  Matthew 17:20 tells us in no uncertain terms that if we just have a little faith we can accomplish anything: “I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”  Through God, all things are possible, even if our cynical nature reminds us that they are not necessarily realistic.  And that, my friends, is worth a look see, isn’t it?

Just have a ‘little’ faith….

Catch you on the flip side,

Ang
