It’s called, “The Man in the Mirror” (Solving the 24 Problems Men Face) (by Patrick Morley). I’m thinking that if you are a man reading this, then you probably just shrugged, saying, “Huh, we face a lot more than that”. And I would have to agree with you, but this book does do a great job of really addressing most of the issues we face, and lumps in with others many issues which stem from another problem as it addresses key issues which come upon at different times in our life and livelihood.
I can’t say that I necessarily agree with every thing mentioned in here, but I do say a “Kudos” for how he introduces the Answer to problems we encounter incluing The Rat Race, Purpose, Existence, Children, Wives, Friends, Money, Time Management, and many more. If I may take an excerpt from a recent chapter: “Men want to control our lives. It’s our training and our nature. If we can be in control, then we can be independent of everyone and do our own thing. The human potential movement fans the embers of our own self-reliance. The temptation is to take charge of our lives and make our own rules.”
Pat goes on to describe the nature of how men continue down this enslaved path of thinking and counting on our independence for our lives and in the end wind up a confused, frustrated old man. There are many focus questions to make you think about your life and ponder what you just read at the end of each chapter which can turn into great discussions amongst you and your friends or your accountability groups.
I would recommend giving this one more than just a once over, but take some time and contemplate what God may be doing in your life and if HE’s got you on the anvil pounding away at your imperfections making you into the person whom HE originally designed.
