Pessimism

Pessimism
A pessimist can hardly wait for the future so he can look back with regret.

Are you a thoughtful doubter-or a doubtful thinker?

A pessimist is a person who is seasick during the entire voyage of life.
.
.
What does the Bible have to say about all this?  Glad you asked: Philippians 4:6-9 “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.  What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me – practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.”
Boy, that’s a mouthful.  And I already know what your thinking!  And it’s not true.  It is not easy for me to say, or think, and certainly not easy to do.  I am a naturally born pessimist and many experiences in my own life had led me to believe that I was rightfully so.  A few of my friends call me a realist as I see where the priorities of those whom I call friends and others around me sink to new levels leaving behind what once was flourishing relationships to pursue empty dreams leaving them a desolate and dusty playground void of children and laughter.
I read this passage of scripture, and the whole time I am thinking, yea, right…but…
And I already know before I finish my phrase that HE’s heard it all before, and there are many who have gone through much more in their life than I, with much less support and friendships.
But, that’s not what gets me through the day(s).  It is the knowledge that HE is with me, every step of the way, and will be with me even unto the ends of the earth.
Point being: Focus on the good, and allow the rest to fade into the background.  Bad happens to us all…it is simply how we respond…if at all.  The choice is yours.
